Failure to stop at scene of accident (CC 252) is a hybrid offence. Individuals convicted of failing to stop at the scene of an accident are normally given a fine and required to serve probation, although it is possible to be sentenced to prison for this offence. Heavy sentences are generally handed down in cases where the accident involved injury or death.
