Status Updates

I sometimes get calls from concerned clients wondering why they haven’t heard from us in a couple of months. The straight answer is that we probably don’t have much news. The courts, police, and Parole Board can all take a long time to send us the information that we need to move forward with a file. The reality of working in a pardon office is that we spend a LOT of time chasing after other organizations to send us what we need so that we can do our jobs.

Some clients have suggested that they would like a courtesy call every couple of weeks just to touch base and keep them in the loop regarding progress on their file. While we certainly try to accommodate this as much of possible please keep in mind that we currently have over 7000 clients. If we were to call every client every couple of weeks, that would mean making over 14 000 phone calls per month! As a small administrative services organization, there is just no way that our current staff can handle that number of calls in addition to the calls that we already field. We could, of course, hire more staff but that would mean raising our prices and I’m sure you’ll agree that no one wants that!

We do understand that you have an absolute right to know that your application is being administered professionally and expediently. This is why we have invested in a phone system that allows you to speak with a counselor in our Calgary office if no one is available to answer the phone in our Montreal office and vice-versa. We offer a toll-free number and, on the off chance that you do have to leave a voicemail or send an email, we will respond to them quickly – normally within an hour or 2. If this is not enough, then of course you can also ask that we contact you as soon as we have any news regarding the status of your application.

At the end of the day, I just want our clients to know that when it comes to pardons, no news is essentially good news. We will always contact you immediately if there is any sort of concern with your application and we are always happy to talk if you call us to find out about the status of your file.

I applied for a pardon in Feb. 2011. I recieved a reciept on July 3/11 indicating that cost is paid in full. I left a voice mail message same date requesting status of my file but have not received a reply. Could you please update me as there are several volunteer and employment opportunities that are available at this time. Thank you.

Hi Mary-Ellen,

I have searched your name within our system and there are no matches. Is it possible that we have an alternate name on file (maiden or married name, maybe)? Are you certain that you signed up with the National Pardon Centre and not with another company?

Hi Brad,

Pardons Canada is a different company. I believe they are based out of Toronto. Unfortunately, I don’t have contact info for them but you should be able to find that on the web.

I want to know the status of my application for pardon submitted on Feb. 07, 2011. It’s been 14 months now. I had opted for ‘Option#2, urgent’. Nobody speaks to me on the phone regarding the status of my application. I had paid all fees in full, completed and handed in all paperwork required. Could you please let me know the status of my application. thank you.

Again, I have no record of your name in our system. You must be dealing with a different company. You should contact them for information.

It looks to me the same answer is given to everyone asking for updates on their pardons. Nobody told me there was all these different pardons canada. It’s nothing but a scam to take peoples money!!!

Hi Laura,

I understand it can be confusing, but just like any other industry there are many organizations out there that offer such a service and it is always best to do your research no matter what company you choose.

I think any company that does not inform you about all these companies is very unethical and it seems to me you’re all the same. It is now impossible to find out the statis of your pardon. You’re all crooks!!!

Laura,

You are also dealing with a different company. I have no matches for any of your names in my system. You can check your bank statements to see which company you opened your file with.

Birgit

Hi Laura,

I would like to help you out but as far as I can tell you are not a client of our organization. I have searched all of the combinations of your name that you listed and none of them appear anywhere in our system. There are a lot of other companies out there that do pardons and some of them have names that are very similar to ours. If you can scan or fax me a copy of the document that you mention above I would be happy to try to help you figure out which company you are dealing with.

I applied for a pardon in May 2011. I paid my $644.00 and the number on the receipt is P22671. I am really upset because I cannot find out what is happening. The money has been paid, the finger prints were done and sent in, now …nothing. Please let me know the status of this matter..

Hi Souf,

We only deal with Canadian citizens who are seeking entry into the USA. The process surrounding non-Canadians is different as they would need a visa and this is not something we specialize in. I wish you the best of luck.

Applying for a pardon is a ripoff. I applied for one back in 2009, paid for it in full including finger printing, and have not received anything. They take your money quick enought but that’s the end, no pardon. I hope everyone out there reds this before they get ripped off!!
