The Liberal government finally announced that they will provide an expedited route to getting pardons for simple marijuana convictions. This came on the day of the monumental shift in Canadian drug policy that will surely result in fewer young people having their lives turned upside for a rather harmless activity.
Pardons for marijuana convictions however will not be that much simpler to obtain. You will still need to follow the steps provided from the Parole Board of Canada and complete the application from start to finish. However, there will be no waiting period to meet and there will be no administrative fee to the Parole Board.
A pardon will still not be free of charge. You will be required to obtain the same paperwork as those who are applying through the regular process.
